GREAT Minutes Monday November 30, 2009

Topics of Discussion:
Earth Day: Scheduled for Saturday April 24th. Earth Day sub-committee meeting will meet soon. Members are asked to e-mail Tom and/or Aimee with fund raising ideas and names of “green” companies we can contact for sponsorship.
Rain Garden: Passed a motion to use rain garden funding to create a rain garden at DHHR in Oak Hill.
ICLEI: Mayor Jim Akers was present to discuss ICLEI game plan. Missy (regional coordinator for ICLEI) gave an overview of ICLEI’s mission and we discussed our greenhouse gas inventory results (based on 2007 data). We also addressed the need for an action plan and the need to involve representatives from various community sectors (business, government, etc.). It was decided that the next step is to form an Action Task Force, to include local stakeholders (city officials). Mayor Akers agreed to appoint someone from city government to join the task force. GREAT board members will also approach appropriate local citizens about task force membership.
Flex E Grant: We are waiting approval of the grant.
Our Christmas party will be held December 18, 2009 at the home of Aimee and Tom Rist.
