Switch your old fashioned lightbulbs to compact fluorescent light bulbs. Some of the benefits of CFL bulbs from the energy star website:

- Save $30+ in electricity costs over each bulb’s lifetime
- Produce 75 percent less heat
I’ve started to use LEDs (light emitting diodes) when not too much light is needed … and some of the spots actually give a lot of light. Also great to use LED for holiday-type lights, flashlights, etc. There are more and more sources. One good one, with some beautiful lights, is donsgreenstore.com. Also got a cool color-changing one made by c.crane. And speaking of cool, these bulbs give off NO heat. Try ‘em; you’ll like ‘em.
